As we gear up for state assessments, Superintendent Bonds sends well wishes and positive energy to all school communities within District 29. We have done a lot to prepare scholars for this very moment and expect our students to show up and do well. Thank you to the district team for standing in support of all of us.

hello Scholars. The crystal Bond superintendent of Community School District 29 the district that shines here this is a message for each and every one of you to wish you well on the upcoming Ela and math assessment I like to share that I would love for you to please take this assessment seriously and you do your best because this is a time when we use this information to help us understand how much you have learned this school year and for your Readiness for next year I don't think of this as an opportunity an opportunity to show us what you've learned and who you are so it's a time to show up and show out I like to share a few tips first make sure you bring me the questions that you understand what is being asked of you to pace yourself understand the timing and make sure you don't run out of time number three strategy show your thinking so we know what you are doing number for make your final answer standout Circle it especially in math number 5 make sure you are Bubba in the entire circle when answering the questions number 6 practice self talk and your own pep talk I know I am a good reader let me hear you say it I have work this year to show my teachers what I have learned let me hear you say it and no matter what I am proud of the work that I've done this year let me hear it and now I like to share some calming strategies about making your breath count mindfulness practices that I use like to share them with you so first sit straight in your chair. Comfortable place your feet flat on the ground and then either gaze or stare at something or even close your eyes and then we are going to breathe in for the count of 4 Cold War counter for and then exhale for count to 6 now let's try it in 234 and hold two can green 34 and hold 3/4 XL 2 3 4 5 6 and guess what you can try this no one even has to know you doing it pause. Hope that you can use this and you find it helpful so remember remember the day before the assessment I like you to make sure you get a good night sleep and then the next morning wake up in shortage of a great breakfast I believe in you your family believes in you your teachers leaving you and most importantly believe in yourself so I remember this is an opportunity to show us who d-29 Scholars I am hugging you right now I hope you can feel it I wish you nothing but success I care and be well
