welcome you're watching the NYC High School admissions video the series remember there are two separate pathways through high school admissions in New York City in the next few videos we will learn about the Paw way to New York City's 9 specialized high schools all students are eligible to submit a high school application are also eligible to apply to the specialized high schools this means all current 8th grade and first-time ninth-grade students who live in New York City can participate students with disabilities or accessibility needs to speak languages other than English are all welcome and encouraged to apply what are the specialized high schools you may have heard a lot about them or maybe your hearing about them for the first time there are nine specialized 8 of these schools are testing specialized high schools you apply to these eight schools by taking the specialized high schools admissions test also known as the shsat versus at LaGuardia high school is the one audition specialized high school you apply to one or more of the six programs at this school by audition these are the specialized high schools is different and there is at least one in each Borough be a testing schools are in the Bronx the Bronx High School of Science and High School of American studies at Lehman College in Brooklyn the Brooklyn Latin School and Brooklyn Technical High School in Queens Queens High School for the Sciences at York College in Staten Island Staten Island Technical High School and in Manhattan High School for mathematics science and veneering at the City College of New York the one edition specialized high school is also located in Manhattan fiorello H.
